All women should be surrounded by a community of women that can raise them up and support them when they need it. Dress for Success Atlanta has become that community for me.
After separating from her husband, Nikkia moved from Florida to Atlanta with her three girls. Once she arrived, her plans fell through, leaving them with nowhere to live. She found her way to My Sister’s House, a Dress for Success Atlanta community partner, where she lived and designed a path to secure employment and a place to call home. During lockdown, she began participating in workshops and attending the Professional Women’s Group (PWG) regularly. Nikkia reinvigorated her organic skin care business, but in 2022 she was in a terrible car accident that left her injured, barely able to walk or work. In early 2023, she began her journey to becoming a licensed real estate agent. Her skin care business continues to grow, and she is close to completing her bachelor’s degree.
